November 2017 Dancenews
Hello FDW families!
It’s November already! This year is flying by just like the others! We will be starting your routines for Showtime 2018 shortly! Keep practicing, you all look fantastic! Remember, SHOWTIME IS JUNE 2nd & 3rd! THE FIRST SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IN JUNE AS ALWAYS!
If anyone happens to go to Orlando over the holidays, try to check out FDW dancers, Lauren Hoefer, Katy Santamaria and Nikki Blazekovic dancing at Universal Studios! Maybe even get to an Orlando MAGIC MBA game to see Nikki dancing her heart out as an Orlando Magic Dancer! FDW dancer’s had a blast (as usual) Performing at Dean’s South of the Border Halloween Party, and are looking forward to representing our studio at The Veteran’s Parade, Mistletoe Ball for the Homeless Coalition, Local Churches, and of course the Charlotte County Christmas Parade!
The Charlotte County Christmas Parade is coming! Saturday Dec 9 is the big day! Our float/truck will reflect the Chamber of Commerce’s theme “Holiday Happiness”. We are asking all float participants (3-6 yrs old) dress in red tank tops with black shorts and white sneaker to pair with headband (to keep). For kids dancing down the route (ages 7 and up), dress in a plain black leotard with tan tights and white KEDS style sneaker ($5 at walmart) to pair with skirt & headband (to keep). Please bring money for a headpiece skirt to rent ($5 for ages 3-6, $8 ages 7+) to the studio by Dec 5th. Hair and Make – Up should be fun and festive! The parade will begin at Charlotte High in Punta Gorda. Find our group to drop off your children. The parade begins at noon. Ovations and Company members please arrive by 10:30AM, 7 & up please arrive at 11:15AM, 3-6 yrs please arrive by 11:45AM. You can pick them up at The Event Center Parking Lot where the parade ends. We will need chaperones to wear red and white. We will be having a refreshment party immediately following the parade at the disbanding area at The Event Center Lot, we are asking parents to please bring individually wrapped snacks and juice boxes or water to the studio the WEEK BEFORE the parade, we will not have room on the truck that day! We also need a “Refreshment Coordinator” to set up the refreshments the day of the parade at the end of the route. Please send your child with 1 bottle of water that day, while they are waiting to start. A sign-up poster is in Observation area! Thank you! (More info to follow).
FDW’s Clint Thompson started his National Tour of Broadway’s Wizard of Oz! We are taking sign-ups at the studio for anyone interested in seeing him in Sarasota in March for a group rate! It’s such a pleasure watching FDW’s own embark on their professional performing careers!
New this year we will have our first ever Ovations Competition Team Fundraising Showcase to kick off the beginning of the competition season. Come support your fellow dancers and get a sneak peak at all of the new groups dances, solos and more! The show will be Saturday, January 6th at 5PM at the Center for Performing Arts (CPAC) in Punta Gorda. Tickets are $15 pre sale and $18 at the door and will be available to purchase soon! We are also selling ads and looking for sponsors to help support the cost of competition for the team. If you or someone you know would like to support the team, please contact Holly 941-743-2115 or FloridaDanceWorkshop@gmail.com.
Reminder: November Tuition is now due along with your costume payments (costumes due Dec 15). Please be sure to pay tuition on time, a $10 late fee will be added to your account after the 10th for each month overdue. Late fees also apply to costumes. We thank you for your attention. All costumes must be paid in full by Christmas Break, December 15th. All costumes are $70. Please double check the parent portal to make sure your child’s classes are listed correctly so that our ordering goes as smoothly as possible. Thank you for your support and timely payments! Don’t forget Party Week begins December 11. The class schedule changes that week! Look forward to your next dancenews for your schedule that week only ☺
Please be sure your child is wearing the proper attire for class. Proper attire is essential to promote self discipline, character, and it is extremely important for them and the instructors to see and correct body lines. No shirts, shorts or bare midriff for ballet! Remember to make up any class missed to stay in shape!
Don’t forget to bring in your Honor Roll report cards, to hang on display! A trophy will again be awarded on stage at Showtime by drawing, in addition to our many other trophies and awards!
Have a great Thanksgiving Break Nov 20-24!
