2024 Ovations Form

Parents and Dancers Please read all!

- I understand that participation in the Competition team is a year long commitment and summer classes are required (see details below).

- “Ovations” members & hopefuls must enroll & have excellent attendance in a minimum of 4 dance classes over the Summer AND Regular seasons, be age 8+ by Jan 1 & meet technical requirements determined by teachers. (Ballet, Jazz & Lyrical classes required). Ovations groups will be assigned based on dancer request  and teacher choice and can not be dropped. Members attend 3 regional competitions + 1 convention per year.

- **NEW** I understand that OVATIONS DANCES CANNOT BE DROPPED by the dancers/parent.

- **NEW**  Attendance Policy dancers should miss no more than 5 classes per style of dance the student is registered for throughout the year (August to June), and 2 or less per style in the summer (June -July). Make ups are allowed for 1 level above or below the dancers current level IN THE SAME STYLE when possible. Ask Holly for details. Monitor your dancer’s attendance in the Parent Portal & log all pre planned absences ASAP. Group dance rehearsal can only be made up by a private lesson in that dance and must be made up within 2 weeks of absence. Dancer’s missing more than 3 group rehearsals risk being dropped from a group and is at the teacher’s discretion. (This is MORE lenient during the year, but has a higher summer requirement. Please see schedule and take note of our 3 weeks OFF in the summer months.)

- I understand that as the parent, I am expected to READ all correspondence sent by FDW in the portal and BAND app as they always contain important information about upcoming events and that it is MY RESPONSIBILITY to monitor my dancer’s attendance and keep them in good standing and above all, communicate with the teachers.

- I am expected to attend all of the classes, events, competitions and rehearsals including the January Ovations Competition Team Dance Showcase.

- I understand I should take the studio calendar into consideration when making plans and avoid whenever possible missing dance unless for illness, serious injury, etc. A Doctor’s note should always be provided when necessary, and dancers are still resposiible for learning choreography missed (by scheduling a private lesson).

- I understand that it is MY RESPONSIBILITY to manage my schedule in a way that allows me to attend the events and rehearsals listed in the studio calendar on the website and portal. I  understand that the the calendar is always available at FloridaDanceWorkshop.com and that changes MAY BE MADE if unavoidable and the parent on the DanceStudio Pro account will receive an email if any changes occur.

- I understand I will incur additional fees for costume / attire / choreography / master class charges.
I understand as a member of the competition team I am expected to attend a minimum of 1 team convention per year.

- I understand that any behavior (bullying, chronic failure to pay tuition and bills time, unsupportive attitudes of the parent or dancer, or any behavior seen by FDW staff to not be healthy for the team may result in the dismissal of the dancer from the team.

- I understand that if my dancer has chronic injuries or ailments that but the group dance at risk, the dancer may be subbed out or replaced for the health of the dancer and the success of the dance for the season.

- As the responsible parent of my child, I understand that I am committing myself to financially and physically supporting my child to the Florida Dance Workshop’s Ovations/Company team for the upcoming season. Failure to meet the requirements will result in a $100 fee. ALL costume, entry, choreography fees incurred up to that point are NON REFUNDABLE.
