About all of our
Annual...
"Showtime Productions"
"Showtime"
productions have been staged in professional, theatre venues, by our Dance
Workshop's since 1968.
Our FLORIDA DANCE WORKSHOP annual Showtime is held in
Punta
Gorda,
in early
June. While it is not required, it is recommended that all
students participate to gain the full benefit of their arts education.
Even
our tiniest dancers perform, joyfully, confidently and unassisted.
Dancers
taking one regular dance class are featured in their routine or variations, in
addition to the full cast, finale. Only one costume is
required, for each regular class, and costume prices are kept to a
minimum with accessories included.
Our
production has never been referred to as a "recital" since it is
staged in a professional atmosphere, and features various combinations of Music,
Dance, Drama, and, sometimes, Vocal entertainment. Complimented by glittering
costumes, professional stage scenery and special effects, the program is held
to higher standard than that of a "recital". Showtime is an
artistically versatile, entertainment experience, thanks to the hard work and
talents of its performers and dedicated, production
committee.
Showtime
has also featured the talents of many guest performers over the years, for
example; American Idol contestant,
Heidi Saldana,
Movie Actor/Director/Vocalist,
Ron
Duquette, Naples native,
Actor/Singer,
Jeff Bradford, talented local performers
including Joe
Orlando, Michelle Ortenzio, Michelle
Gellert, Michelle Robinson, and many more. Many of our own Workshop dancers' talents have
also been featured in guest roles,
such as the wonderful vocal talents of our
FSU student : Corinne M.
Engstrom, BROADWAY
Dancer, Marcus
Bellamy, and Walt Disney
World Dancers,
Monica Edwards, and Tanya Welker just to name a few.
